MOORE, Oklahoma -

A man traveling across the country on horseback has been in tornado-ravaged areas for weeks helping out where he could.

News 9 tracked the man down as he headed west. He said his work had come to an end in Moore recently and it was time to get moving.

He was traveling on State Highway 152 between Mustang and Union City. Cars were speeding by him at 55 mph. Jeremiah Brinkley was going just three miles per hour on one horsepower. Her name is Anna Belle, Brinkley's 8-year-old horse.

"She's been really good to me," said Brinkley. "I've got over some odd 30,000 miles on her."

The two enjoy the slow pace. They travel from place to place looking to help people where they can.

"People need help and the only way to do that is to jump in there and get 'er done," said Brinkley. "There's a lot of people that can't do a lot of things. So I just stop and help them. You know, like farmers, repair equipment."

That kind of work is just what this cowboy and his horse have been doing for years.

"I've been through Joplin tornado and Morehouse flood and helped there for quite some time."

It has been his way of giving back, because other gave him so much along his journeys.

"Most of my equipment was broke down and stuff like this so they…so they gave me all, everything I needed, free. And it would probably cost around two hundred and some off dollars if he were to sell it to me."

It's the good in people Brinkley sees every day that keeps him going. This time it's west, to see the California coast for the first time before turning around and heading back. Brinkley and Anna Belle will stop along the way to help where they can.

"The people I meet are so awesome, they really are."
