A son is accused of shooting his father in the face with a shotgun. Police found the father dead inside his home near S.W. 55th and Shields earlier this week.

Jeffrey Canaday is no stranger to the Oklahoma County Jail. In fact he got out of here just a week before he allegedly shot and killed his father.

Monica has seen enough to know she does not want to show her face. The day before the murder, Monica says she witnessed Jeffrey Canaday chasing after his father with a gun in his hand.

Monica says things calmed down after that, but the next day they heard a gunshot.

Police say Canaday shot his father James in face and neck with a shotgun inside their home on S.E.55th

Court Records reveal a history of violence between Canaday and his father. Canaday occasionally "stood over his father with a knife" and was known to punch his father in the face while the victim was sleeping. But no one thought it would come to this.

Canaday is a convicted felon. His family told us he suffers from some mental illness. So if you see him, do not approach, just call 911.
