OHP Pilot In Stable Condition After Plane Crash In Pott. County

An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper, whose plane crashed into a field in Pottawatomie County last Friday, is recovering from his injuries at OU Medical Center.

An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper, whose plane crashed into a field in Pottawatomie County last Friday, is recovering from his injuries at OU Medical Center.

Trooper Dennis Dickens was pulled from the burning wreckage of the aircraft Friday night in Pottawatomie County and airlifted to the hospital.

On Monday, authorities say Dickens is in stable condition.

Trooper Dickens was helping track a DUI suspect when the plane crashed.

Dickens' son Zackary Dickens says his dad owes his life to a higher power.

"That's the reason why my dad is alive, is just by god's work, because I truly believe that without him, my dad would be dead," he said.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the cause of the crash.
