MOORE, Oklahoma -

As students from Plaza Towers Elementary in Moore prepare to head back to school, teachers are working hard to make sure the kids will feel right at home.

One of those teacher's  love for a particular comic book star is set to have her students smiling.

Not long after the May 20 tornado, first grade teacher Becky Jo Evans started finding small, familiar treasures in her school's debris. Those treasures have students calling Evans, the "Batman teacher."

"My dad worked a lot, and I would record Batman … and later, we'd watch it together," said Evans.

A collection of more than 100 of the superheroes filled a good part of Evan's classroom, and the kids loved it.

"She had a whole wall of Batman stuff," Plaza Towers student Logan Mackey said. "I never knew any other girl who liked Batman before."

Young Logan was with Evans when their school took a direct hit from an Ef-5 tornado in May.

"Stuff was falling and crashing into the building," Evans said.

Most of the collection vanished and was the last thing on everyone's mind at the time. But when it came to getting back to normal, teachers and students couldn't help but think of that Bruce Wayne alter ego.

"The first donations I got [were not] even school stuff," said Evans. "It was Batman stuff."

The Batman stock is now practically back at square one ahead of the first day of class. Some of the toys were found, others are still missed.

"During the whole year, she had this LEGO set of Batman … I was really eager to ask, 'Can I build that? Can I build that,'" Logan said.

Now, Logan hopes building a new collection will be in order for one of his favorite teachers.

"I'm sad that she's not going to move up to the second grade," said Logan.

Logan and Evans will be back to school soon. The first day of class is August 16.
