WWII Veteran From Tulsa Dies

Posted: Updated:

He was part of the Greatest Generation.

Bill Chaney, a World War II veteran from Tulsa, has died.

We had the honor of telling his story back in 2010 -- on the 65th anniversary of "Victory in Europe Day."

The Tulsa war hero was on the front lines during the invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge.

He was shot in the back and taken prisoner by the Germans then later awarded the Purple Heart.

Chaney was 91 years old.
