Former OSU Guard Suspended For Violating NBA Drug Policy

PORTLAND, Oregon -

Former Oklahoma State and current Portland guard Terrel Harris has been suspended five games for violating the NBA anti-drug policy.

The NBA announced Harris' suspension on Monday.

Harris, 25, was seldom used last season with the Miami Heat and New Orleans Hornets, now the Pelicans. He was acquired by the Trailblazers this offseason.

The NBA did not specify which substance Harris tested positive for but it is fairly clear that it was not a performance enhancing drug because of the 20-game suspension that comes with a first-time offense.

Harris had made a positive impression in Portland, particularly in the final summer league contest where he scored 25 points and hauled in six rebounds. He was also a part of the Miami Heat's 2012 championship team.

He played for OSU from 2005-09, where he a key part of the Cowboys' lineup all four years. He averaged 14 points and five rebounds per game as a senior in helping lead the Pokes to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
