More Rain, Thunderstorms Expected Across Oklahoma

Posted: Updated:

More rain and thunderstorms are expected Thursday evening and night across Oklahoma.

This evening there will be a chance for isolated thunderstorms to develop mainly in western Oklahoma. These storms will have the potential to become severe; producing large, damaging hail and also damaging winds in excess of 70 mph. They will also produce very heavy rain, and this could lead to flash flooding in some areas.

The tornado threat will be low, but not zero with these isolated storms.

As the evening rolls along, a complex of storms is expected to develop in southwest Kansas and northwest Oklahoma. This complex will move south through western Oklahoma late Thursday evening and overnight.

The main threats will be damaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning, and heavy rain. Some areas could pick up one to two inches, especially points north of I-40 and west of I-35. Storms will progress southward possibly reaching the OKC metro after 10 PM.
