Through his foundation, Philadelphia Phillies Pitcher Cole Hamels gives a $10,000 donation to benefit Plaza Towers Elementary School. The donation was made in memory of Sydney Angle and six of her classmates who died when the school took a direct hit from an EF-5 tornado on May 20.

Angle's family accepted the donation last week during The Hamels Foundation's 4th annual ‘Diamonds & Denim' fundraising event in Philadelphia, PA. Angle's family, parents Dan and Nicole Angle and siblings Jory Pratt and Casey Angle attended the event as special guests of foundation co-founders Cole and Heidi Hamels.

"The Hamels Foundation is proud to be able to make a gift to Plaza Towers Elementary in memory of the seven students who passed during the devastating tornado in May," said Kelly Anderson Director of Operations for The Hamels Foundation. "We hope that this gift will help in the healing efforts of Sydney's family and the town of Moore, Oklahoma."

The Hamels Foundation was created in 2008 and is dedicated to enriching the lives of children through the power of education by giving them the tools they need to achieve their goals.

Since that time, the Hamels Foundation has raised more than $2 million dollars with 100% of funds raised benefiting education.
