The search continues for an Oklahoma City teen in Ecuador. August Reiger has been missing for more than two months.

Monday would have been the first day of college for August. He was set to begin a full-ride scholarship at the University of Oklahoma. Instead, family members say they still believe their loved one is being held captive.

Ecuadorian officials tell the Reiger family that a young German woman went missing last week, but investigators are unsure if the two cases are connected.

"It's a terrifying situation and one that [August's parents] hope will end very soon," said August's aunt Cristi Reiger.

Cristi is currently serving as a family spokesperson. The teen's parents, who are back in Oklahoma City, are still too upset to talk to reporters.

August, who President Obama called a missing patriot, was last seen two months ago on a hike in the resort town of Banos. The Ecuadorian government says there have been several credible sightings of August in recent weeks.

"[Missing person flyers] had been put all over the country by [investigators] … family members … friends who are helping," Cristi said.

As many as eight family members and friends have been taking shifts traveling to Ecuador. The family says the search effort by local authorities is incredible.

The missing German woman vanished from an area just south of where August was last seen, according to the Reiger family.
