Reaction from Australia has been swift and primarily focused on our gun laws. In fact a former Deputy Prime Minister of Australia is using the cold blooded shooting of Chris Lane to urge Australian's to boycott vacationing in the U.S. to protest.

The focus there is on the lack of gun control here.

But elsewhere, including all over Twitter and Facebook, including my page, people are asking if this was a hate crime. The victim was white, the 2 suspects now charged with his murder African American teenagers.

And many on social media are asking where is the outrage that accompanied the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman case?

Just as in the Martin case people need to be careful about jumping to conclusions.

I spent a couple of hours today going through the Facebook posts and Twitter accounts of the two teenagers charged with murder.

While they were full of profanity, vulgar street bravado and threats, I found no racially charged remarks, indicating they might target a specific type of victim, and authorities have repeatedly called it a random killing.

We need to let investigators do their jobs.
