Hot, Humid, Dry Through the Weekend.

Above normal temperatures and below normal rainfall will be the general rule for the next week or two.

Hope you enjoyed that nice run of mild, wet weather over the last month or so as we have returned to more seasonal temperatures today and the outlook for the next two weeks is for temperatures to be warmer than normal and our rainfall to be below normal. We are at the time of year now where our normal temperatures are on a gradual slope downward as the hottest days of summer are usually behind us by now. That makes triple digit days less and less likely and we have only had 5 so far this summer anyway.

However, with temperatures expected to be running warmer than normal for the next two weeks or so, and with the wet soils and verdant vegetation from the recent wet spell, the combination of heat and humidity or the heat index will likely be close to triple digits on any given day as was the case today.

In other words, the month of August will be ending on a warm, dry note and trying to make up for the cool, wet conditions of the last several weeks.

Notice the 8-14 day outlook maps on the right which has a signal suggesting above normal temperatures and below normal rainfall throughout that forecast period. And, with above normal temperatures and little or no mention of rain leading up to that time frame, we have a good two week stretch ahead of us which will be warmer than normal and drier than normal.

That is not to say there will be no showers at all. The heat and humidity will be such that an isolated shower or storm could develop on any given day, particularly in the more terrain favored locations over the next two weeks. But, the chances of any one location receiving measurable rainfall will be in the slim to none category throughout that period as well. That means things will be drying out over the next two weeks which will also allow temperatures to warm up even more.

So, if you were wondering what happened to August, as that famous philosopher Yogi Berra would say, "I ain't over till it's over".

Stay tuned and check back for updates.
