TULSA, Oklahoma -

A wounded teenager ran from a Tulsa police officer early Sunday despite being covered in blood. The victim appeared to have been drinking and was taken to the hospital.

Sergeant Steve Stoltz was in his patrol car at a parking lot at 21st and Garnett just before 3 a.m. when he saw the young man across the street at a Fiesta Mart, appearing to be agitated.

When the officer approached, the teen started running.

"I saw the subject walk out from the dumpsters behind the store. As he turned to walk toward the store, I noticed that he had a white T-shirt on and the back of it was soaked in blood," Stoltz said.

Stoltz had the juvenile sit down as he called EMSA. The boy had at least two stab wounds to his lower back and one to his right arm. Stoltz said the boy told him he'd been robbed and stabbed by two other men, but officers weren't sure that was the full story.

"He's being real evasive about his name and what happened," the sergeant said. "He seemed like he was intoxicated - a juvenile male, intoxicated, he's way out past curfew - definitely a bad combination of several factors," Stoltz said.

"He apparently either rubbed someone the wrong way or they had a problem with him."

He was taken to a Tulsa hospital where he is expected to be OK. Stoltz was on his way to contact the boy's family to let them know what happened.
