CRESCENT, Oklahoma -

Authorities in four different Oklahoma Counties are on the lookout for thieves targeting rural homes and businesses. And they think the same people may be responsible for the multicounty heists.

For weeks, investigators in Logan, Kingfisher, Garfield, and Noble County have been working this recent rash of break-ins without any luck. But just yesterday, the Logan County Sheriff's office got a crucial tip that could help them all crack the case.

Take a close look at this picture taken by a concerned homeowner. It shows a truck investigators are looking for that may be connected to this series of multicounty break-ins.

"I wish they'd come back," said Cheryl McPhail, whose home was one of the ones targeted. "I will be here, waiting."

McPhail says even though she has three loud dogs, thieves still kicked in her front door.

"So I don't know if they gave them treats to get them away or what their MO is," said McPhail. "The frame was broken. The door jam was broken. All the locks in my house were gone."

McPhail says the thieves ransacked her bedroom and took her jewelry, money, purses and a gun.

"This is all the jewelry I have left; what I have on," said McPhail. "You know it makes you mad, because you work for everything you've got, and they just come and take it."

And a captain at the Logan County Sheriff's office says he believes the same people who broke into Cheryl's place are responsible for at least a half a dozen other break ins east of Crescent.

"So far there hasn't been anybody home during the burglaries and that's a blessing, because burglaries can turn violent," said Capt. Richard Stephens with the Logan County Sheriff's office.

Again, the truck authorities are looking for is a white 4-door Chevy pickup with a black flatbed. It is pulling a box trailer and is said to have two distinctive back windows on that trailer.
