With the Labor Day holiday now almost behind us, the outdoor party season will also soon wind down.

Kristen Adams is urging anyone who spends time outdoors to not only wear sunscreen, but also mosquito repellent.

Adams, who's the daughter of prominent OKC Attorney Scott Adams, was diagnosed with the West Nile Virus a few weeks ago.

West Nile is transmitted by mosquito bites, Adams believes she was bitten in her family's backyard, where there is a large pool of standing water.

Adams says she continues to fight through high fevers and mind-numbing fatigue on a daily basis.

"If I can help one person from not contracting West Nile, then speaking out for me was worth it," she said.

Adams is Oklahoma's second confirmed West Nile case in 2013. Last year, 15 people died in the state from the disease.
