After being locked in a battle for 108 minutes, a deflected ball doomed the Oral Roberts University men's soccer team as the Golden Eagles fell 2-1 in double-overtime against Houston Baptist.

The Golden Eagles' record moved to 0-2 on the season, while the Huskies earned their first victory in two contests.

HBU started the scoring in the 15th minute of play as Patrick Toh found Tobenna Uzo just outside the box for a breakaway goal to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead.

The score remained 1-0 until the Golden Eagles were able to tie the game in the 66th minute. In a wild sequence of events, the Golden Eagles rattled off three shots in a matter of seconds, including a shot off the right post by Wayne Farmer. Fortunately, after the keeper dove for Farmer's shot, Clive Chafausipo was there for the follow to score an empty netter.

Heading into extra time, both squads were equal in the shot category with 15. However, the Huskies offense were on the attack in the final 18 minutes, out-shooting the Golden Eagles 10-2 during that stretch.

The golden goal came with 1:57 remaining in the contest. Alvarado Gustavo controlled a loose ball around the midfield stripe, dribbling it about 25 yards out. Gustavo took a shot that was deflected just enough by a Golden Eagle defender to find an open spot in the net.

Coming up on the losing end was keeper Ben LaCourse. The sophomore made multiple spectacular saves during the contest, recording five total. George Kelley got the victory for the Huskies with a pair of saves.

Chafausipo led ORU with four shots, all coming during the second half of play. Johnny Chavez, Matthew Rogers and Edgardo Mira each took three shots, Casey Cantor added two, while Tom Adams and Alex White each had one.

ORU will hit the road for its next two contests as the Golden Eagles take on Central Arkansas on Friday, followed by a date with Memphis on Sunday.
