Tuesday Morning Update

Posted: Updated:

Posted at 3:22AM.  Good morning and welcome to Tuesday.  I hope you had a wonderful Labor Day holiday!  The weather was absolutely spectacular yesterday.  The "official high "in Tulsa was only 88 degrees after a cold front that moved across the area Sunday afternoon and evening.  We had a few showers and storms yesterday afternoon across far southeastern Oklahoma, but most of the states remained cloud free, dry, and wonderful!

Our weather pattern will be rather uneventful for the next several days.  Dry lower levels of the atmosphere combined with week ridging will result in sunshine, light north winds and dry conditions for the next few days.  Dew point temperature in the 50's and 60's this morning will also yield very pleasant morning lows across northern and eastern Oklahoma.  Some locations north and east of Tulsa may experience upper 50's this morning and tomorrow morning for a few hours.  The Tulsa Metro will probably bottom out this morning between 60 and 63 degrees.  The afternoon high temperatures today should stay in the upper 80's across northeastern Oklahoma and lower 90s across the southern third of the state.

The mid-level ridge of high-pressure currently located across the Intermountain West will slowly expand and strengthen eastward over the next 36 to 48 hours.  This will result in a slow warming trend with afternoon highs back in the lower to mid 90's Thursday through the end of the week.    Some of our neighbors across far southern Oklahoma and North Texas could experience upper 90 to near 100 degree readings by the end of the week into the weekend.  At this point in the forecast cycle, we see no major storm systems for the next 7 days.  The extended (long range) data support the ridge breaking down and a mid-level trough brushing the area by September 11th through the 13th.

The high temperature in Tulsa yesterday was 88 degrees recorded at 3:50pm.

The normal high temperature is 89 and then normal low is 67.

Records include a high of 109 from 1939 and a low of 47 from 1974.

You'll find me on Facebook and Twitter.

As always, I'll be discussing our state wide and regional weather forecast on numerous Radio Oklahoma News network affiliates.

Thank you for stopping by this morning and reading the Tuesday morning weather discussion and blog.  Have a super great day!
