Police arrest a mother accused of beating her daughter with a wire hanger and extension cord.

On Sunday, September 1, police arrested Maria Terrazas, 36, for the alleged abuse of her 11-year-old daughter.

Officers were called by Terrazas' ex-husband, who had picked his daughter up for visitation. He told police he immediately noticed bruises on his daughter's face and neck but instead of causing a scene, he took her home with him and called 911.

When police arrived, they talked to the girl, who told them she had gotten into an argument with her mother on Friday after Terrazas' boyfriend told her the victim spanked a child she was babysitting. According to the victim, Terrazas' boyfriend suggested she "beat" her daughter. The victim said that's when her mother grabbed a metal coat hanger and hit her in the face and head with it.

The victim also told police the next day her mother beat her in the head, neck and legs with an electrical extension cord following another argument.

Police went to Terrazas' home and arrested her without incident. Police transported Terrazas to the Oklahoma County Jail and booked her on a charge of child abuse by injuring a child and an outstanding warrant for violation of a deferred sentence.
