Good news out of the neighborhood near Plaza Towers Elementary school, which was devastated by the tornado in May. The very first home to be rebuilt is now finished, and the homeowner just moved in over the weekend.

It's a much different and wider layout, and after being displaced for nearly four months, Westmoore High School math teacher Tiffany Truesdell can finally sleep in her own bed.

"It's exciting, I'm glad to be back to my home," Truesdell said.

The May 20th tornado tore through Tiffany's last home of five years on S.W. 16th Street.

"We were seeing piles and piles of rubble, and now that it's all clear, and there's houses starting to pop up, it's a more happier feeling than looking out at the destruction that used to be," she said.

Though it wasn't a race, Truesdell's proud to be the first rebuilt home in her Plaza Towers neighborhood.

"I wanted to be the first one back and kind of be that beacon of hope," said Truesdell. "Think that's the competitive nature in me as an athlete, my builder said 90 days, but what he didn't tell me was he was pushing for 60."

Truesdell and her roommate moved in over the weekend and have most of their furniture and decor in place. The 3-bedroom 2-bathroom home is much bigger than her last one built in the 70s.

She has a spacious back yard and all the modern features she loves from granite table tops to an 8-person storm shelter in her garage. Truesdell has a few more finishing touches, and even after all the work, she's not worried about the next tornado season.

"If it happens again, we'll pick up the pieces and rebuild again," she said.

"It's been a whirlwind, you know, from the day it happened trying to collect whatever you can save, from then, getting to plan basically your dream home."

Truesdell says she plans to add a fence, fire pit and a dog pen to her backyard, and then her home will be complete. She plans to have a big housewarming party in two weeks.
