Del City police officers arrested a convicted felon accused of breaking into a string of vehicles over the weekend. Now, there is strong suspicion that he could be responsible for even more burglaries.
Since July of 2013, there has been accusations of five break-ins in a neighborhood just north of Sunnylane Road and I-40 in Del City. Master's 24/7 Heating and Air has caught much of the accused perpetrators in action thanks to surveillance video.
"He was taking random stuff … fan motors, Freon … anything that has any kind of value," Jeremie Sims with 24/7 Master's Heat and Air said.
Police carted Kevin D. Martin, 50, to jail after he was seen on surveillance video returning to the neighborhood he is accused of burglarizing roughly 24 hours before his latest arrest. Sims says a motion detector system at the business sent a notice to the owner and employees in real time.
Police arrested Martin at a neighbor's house – the home of previous break-in victims Harold and Helen Hodges. News 9 featured the Hodges in July, when video of yet another break-in was released.
"Don't let this guy back on the streets," said Sims. "He has caused tremendous damage to our business alone."
Court records show Martin has been in and out of jail for more than two decades, mostly on complaints of theft.
