Police say a driver took off from an accident at 31st and Sheridan Monday night, and ended up crashing into a house.
Cpl. Mike Hanley said it all started with a hit and run crash involving three vehicles. He said a citizen witnessed the crash and followed when one of the cars sped off.
Hanley said the citizen followed the car into the neighborhood near the 8500 block of East 35th Street. At that point, the suspect sped up and eventually lost control, tearing through a yard, before taking out a stop sign and crashing into a garage across the street.
Police said the homeowners were not home, and they were still working to contact them.
The driver ran off, leaving a woman and child inside the crashed car. None of them were injured. Hanley said the woman would likely not be charged.
Police said they had not caught up with the driver, but they had his name and were working on tracking him down.
