A pile of trash inside a Tulsa recycling plant caught fire early Tuesday. Investigators believe the fire was the result of a chemical reaction from waste being prepped for disposal, according to Tulsa Recycle and Transfer CEO Tom Hill.

The Tulsa Fire Department got the call at 2 a.m. to Tulsa Recycle and Transfer at 1150 North Peoria.

Firefighters arrived to find a smokey fire inside the facility. The fire caused only minor damage to Tulsa Recycle and Transfer.

"We're very happy to get this fire under containment," Hill said. Hill is CEO of Tulsa Recycle and Transfer, American Waste Control and American Environmental Landfill.

"The Tulsa Fire Department did an absolutely incredible job of containing the fire and limiting the damage that was caused."

The facility was expected to reopen at about 9 a.m. Tuesday.

There were a few employees working at the time of the fire, but no one was injured.
