A Good Samaritan broke through the windshield of an overturned semi to get to the driver. The accident happened Wednesday morning on the IDL, and sent the truck driver to the hospital.

The Good Samaritan actually went straight to work for her full shift after pulling the man from his laid-over semi.

A truck driver can count his blessings on Sue McGee's bandaged fingers.

"If he'd have slid any further, he probably would have been in the highway and it would have been a lot worse," McGee said.

She was driving behind the semi on the IDL during the morning rush hour, when it tipped over on a curve from the Sand Springs Expressway to Highway 75.

"It was just like a gust of wind just tipped him over on the driver's side, and he was sliding down the highway," McGee said.

McGee threw her car in park and told her friend to get help.

"I said, "'all 911, call 911, hurry!'"

She ran across the highway to find the 33-year-old truck driver stuck inside the cab.

"I just started kicking the windshield. I couldn't think--I knew I couldn't get on top, I knew I couldn't, I knew he had to get out," McGee said.

Finally, the windshield bowed out and she pulled the rest of it to the ground.

"When I got the window open, he said, 'Oh, my arm, my arm, my shoulder,'" McGee said.

The man was dazed and not moving much. McGee said she waved at drivers to pull over, but no one stopped to help until a nurse drove by and saw what was happening.

The two of them got the man to his feet and waited for paramedics. McGee said she knows it can be scary to help a stranger, but sometimes your hands are that person's only hope.

"Even though there is so much meanness, you still need to have a little piece of your heart that will let you help somebody," McGee said.

At last check, the truck driver was in fair condition. Tulsa police say he suffered some broken bones and was issued a citation for traveling too fast for conditions.
