There hasn't been much positive about Sports Illustrated's bashing of Oklahoma State, but there has been one side effect I hadn't expected.
I've been listening to a lot of sports radio and reading a lot of posts on social media, and I've been surprised by the number of Sooner fans who have OSU's back on this brewing scandal.
Oh, I know the eternal flame of Bedlam hate burns bright just below the surface, as it should, but a surprising majority of crimson and cream wearers are speaking out and saying that the orange has been beaten black and blue unfairly.
I asked a former Sooner Quarterback about it and he felt most OU fans enjoy the fact that OSU is becoming a football powerhouse in their own right, and they revel in the intensifying rivalry. In the spirit of full disclosure, Sports Director Dean Blevins was the QB I talked to about that.
On the SI investigation itself, while it appears one of the reporters may have an axe to grind against OSU, that doesn't mean the reporting they've done is without merit. There's a lot of smoke there.
Still to be honest with you, I'm not that worked up or surprised by what I've heard so far. Maybe that's because I think Mike Gundy has cleaned up a lot of it. But let's see what comes next.
