Here is a recap of the college soccer action from across the state on Friday:

Sooners slip by ORU in Norman, 1-0

NORMAN, Okla. – Missed chances in the final-third of the pitch doomed the Oral Roberts University women's soccer team on Friday they fell to the University of Oklahoma on the road, 1-0.

ORU dropped its second match of the season as they fell to 4-2, while the Sooners improve to 3-4.

Despite the Sooners outshooting the Golden Eagles 20-2 in the match, the backline for both squads played well. The Golden Eagles had several opportunities throughout the second half, with multiple breakaways, but could not clear shots at the goal.

Ashley Martin and Kayla Keller recorded the Golden Eagle shots.

On the defensive end for ORU, Kaily Cox, Rachel Carroll, Leah Bickers and company cleared many Sooner chances inside the penalty area.

In the 70th minute of play, Oklahoma had its first good look at breaking the scoreless tie as Shiloh Price put a boot on the ball that was knocked away by a diving Maddie Rhodes. However, the Sooners broke the tie in the 75th minute as Daisy Cardona put in a rebound following a shot by Jamie Iurato.

Rhodes (0-1) made her first start between the pipes for the Golden Eagles, recording seven saves in the loss. Sooner keeper Kassidie Stade (2-3) earned the victory without recording a save.

ORU returns to action on Sunday afternoon at the Case Soccer Complex as the Golden Eagles host Arkansas State at 1 p.m. in the final non-conference match of the season.

Tulsa Men's Soccer Team Battles UMKC to 1-1 Tie

Dallas, Texas – Tulsa's 13th-ranked men's soccer team battled UMKC to a 1-1 double-overtime tie on Friday night in the SMU Classic at Westcott Field in Dallas, Texas. TU moved to 3-1-1 on the season, while the Kangaroos went to 0-2-2 overall.

The first 79 minutes ticked off the clock scoreless, but UMKC's Tato Chiaparro scored from 25 yards out in the 80th minute to give the Kangaroos a 1-0 lead. Cristian Mata evened up the score and forced overtime as he chipped in a goal from 12 yards out in the 85th minute.

Neither team could find the back of the net in the overtime periods and the game ended in the 1-1 tie.

Cristian had a team-best 10 shots, Omar Mata added seven attempts and Tony Rocha tallied six shots. Cody Mumma played the first 49 minutes between the posts and picked up two saves, while Jake McGuire logged 61 minutes in the net and earned three saves.

TU amassed 35 shots, including 11 on goal, compared to the Kangaroos 13 shots, six of which were on goal. The Hurricane also had a 9-5 advantage in corner kicks.

Tulsa will return to action in the SMU Classic on Sunday, Sept. 15th against Hartwick. Game time is set for 12 noon at Westcott Field.

Cowgirls Lose To No. 9 Penn State

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State jumped out to a two-goal lead over No. 9 Penn State Friday night, but the Nittany Lions scored four unanswered goals to claim a 4-2 win in front of 1,316 fans at the Cowgirl Soccer Complex.

The loss was just OSU's second on its home field since 2010 as the Cowgirls, who were facing a top-10 ranked opponent for the third-straight game, fell to 3-2-2 on the season.

Allie Stephenson gave OSU an early lead as just 6:17 into the match she delivered a 22-yard shot top shelf for her second goal of the season put the Cowgirls up, 1-0.

That lead stretched to two in the 23rd minute when Stephenson sent a pass ahead to Krissi Killion, who beat a defender and PSU goalie Britt Eckerstrom to record her first-career goal.

PSU (5-1-1) answered less than two minutes later when Kori Chapic blasted a shot from 30-yards out to the far post to cut the OSU lead in half.

The Cowgirls had a prime opportunity to push their lead back to two just 62 seconds later, but Madison Mercado had a shot from close range saved by a diving Eckerstrom.

Ramping up its offensive attack, the Nittany Lions netted a pair of goals in just over two minutes to put them on top heading into intermission.

At the 35:34 mark, Tani Costa notched the first of her three assists when she sent a cross into the box that Mallory Weber flicked in from five-yards out to tie the score. In the 38th minute, Maya Hayes put PSU ahead with the first of her two goals on the night.

The score remained 3-2 for much of the second half. OSU's best chance at the equalizer came on a shot by Haley Maurice in the 71st minute that was saved by Eckerstrom, one of seven saves for the PSU goalie on the night.

PSU finished with a 21-14 advantage in shots, with the Cowgirls owning a 9-7 edge in shots on goal.

OSU returns to action Sunday when the Cowgirls host Washington State at 1 p.m.
