Children's Safety Day this Saturday in Claremore will be bigger and better than ever, according to the director of the J.M. Davis Arms and Historical Museum. The event is free and runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the museum in downtown Claremore, 5th and J.M. Davis Boulevard.
"The City of Claremore Electric Department and GRDA are the presenting co-sponsors of the event," said Davis Museum Executive Director Wayne McCombs.
"Their participation has allowed us to add more booths and great prizes for the children this year."
The Claremore Fire Department will bring its ladder truck with 110-foot tower. Sandy the drug dog with the Rogers County Sheriff's Department will be on hand.
"Sandy has been involved in numerous arrests involving drugs," said her handler, Captain Adam Hull of the Rogers County Sheriff's Department.
"Sandy is also trained in tracking lost persons. The kids really like to see Sandy go through her paces."
Kids should bring their bicycles for a bike safety check from Claremore Boy Scout Troop 828. Sign up to win new bicycles and helmets as well as other great prizes.
Some additional groups taking part in the event include the American Red Cross, Claremore Police Department, Claremore Animal Control, Claremore Electric Department, Rogers County Blue Star Mothers and Drug Free Community.
