Hot, Humid; Then a Change on Friday.

Hard to believe this is the middle of September with temperatures forecast to be near 90 Wednesday afternoon and in the lower 90s for Thursday afternoon. At least the round of showers/storms of the last few days has dropped some decent rainfall for some locations, but it has been rather spotty as the 48 hour rainfall map, courtesy of the OK Mesonet, on the right shows.

The good news is that a stronger cool front will arrive on Friday to bring temperatures back to more seasonal levels and also bring a better chance of showers/storms over more of the state. In fact, as the 3 day QPF map on the right shows, an inch or so should be fairly wide spread by the time the rains come to an end Friday evening/night.

That will also be followed by temperatures dropping into the 50s at night and daytime highs closer to 80 for Saturday and perhaps Sunday before things start warming up again during next week. Also, it should be dry for the weekend and for much of the following week.

However, as we go on into the time frame of the State Fair, the longer range guidance at this time continues to suggest temperatures will be running above normal along with an above normal chance of rain. So, we will see as that is certainly subject to change.
