Tulsa homicide detectives started investigating the city's 44th murder of the year Thursday. They said a man was shot earlier in the day, when he and another man staged a robbery at a Tulsa motel.

Police said it appears 35-year-old Aaron Warner was killed by his own partner by mistake.

They said Warner and Elbert Hendrickson robbed a man at the Georgetown Motel Thursday. The robbery victim chased after them and caught up with Warner, who police said he tackled and caused to drop the loot from the robbery.

Police said Hendrickson continued running, until he realized Warner had been caught. They said Hendrickson went back and fired several rounds at the robbery victim, but missed him and hit his accomplice instead.

The shooting was captured on video by a guest who was at KMOD, since it happened right behind the radio station. In the video, you can hear the shot and see one man running away from someone who is on the ground.

There is a second video of the red Mustang leaving the scene right after.

The videos were posted online by KMOD's "Big Mad Morning Show."

Police said Hendrickson and the wounded Warner were in that car. They said Hendrickson, who goes by Jackie D, took Warner to a home in the 1200 block of South 120th East Avenue, dropped him off, and then split.

Investigators said Warner's girlfriend tried to take him to the hospital, but she ended up pulling over at the Academy store at 41st and Interstate 44, where EMSA came and took Warner to the hospital. He later died.

The Northern Oklahoma Violent Crimes Task Force, The Tulsa Police Organized Gang Unit, and Tulsa Homicide worked on the case Thursday. Investigators located the red Mustang near Pine and Sheridan, police said, and then set up surveillance teams to try to track down Hendrickson, after he was identified as a suspect.

Police said surveillance teams spotted Hendrickson leaving a house and getting into the trunk of a vehicle. They said man and woman got into the car and drove off, and police followed and stopped them, arresting Hendrickson at 4:30 p.m. near 2000 North Fulton Avenue.

Hendrickson has not been booked into the Tulsa County jail, yet, but Sgt. Dave Walker said he will be held on complaints of murder, armed robbery, and shooting with intent to kill.

Records show Hendrickson was previously convicted on charges of first degree burglary and possession of a stolen vehicle.
