Experts: Seasonal Allergies In Oklahoma Bad This Fall

Changing seasons signal trouble for many Americans who suffer from allergies, and this fall might be worse than most years.

According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA), about 40 million Americans suffer from seasonal allergies.

Each year, the AAFA predicts which cities across the US are most at risk for allergy problems in its 2013 Fall Allergy Capitals Report, released this week.

Cities like Wichita, Kansas; Jackson, Mississippi; and Knoxville, Tennessee, the top three on the list are considered the worst places to be in if you have seasonal allergies.

Tulsa moved up to 15th on this year's list. It was 19th last year. Oklahoma City is ranked 10th, dropping from 7th place in 2012.

The foundation cites climate change which is affecting pollen levels and redistributing allergens.

"AAFA encourages the approximately 40 million Americans who suffer from seasonal allergies to learn more and consult an allergy specialist for proper diagnosis and treatment of seasonal allergy symptoms," Mike Tringale, vice-president of external affairs at AAFA, said in a press release.
