MOORE, Oklahoma -

An Oklahoma airman, who lost her home to the Moore tornado while serving overseas, is back holding on to what's left.

Senior airman and flight medic Tiffany Moore left for Afghanistan in the spring just before the Moore tornado destroyed her home. But not all was lost, in fact she returned to everything that was most important to her, her daughter Payton.

Moore returned this week to tears and hugs with her daughter, after  a four and a half month tour in Afghanistan. But her home wasn't how she left it.

"It's the last thing that you expect to happen while you're gone. I mean, it really is," she said.

Shortly after her deployment this spring, a deadly Ef-5 tornado destroyed parts of her hometown of Moore, including her own home.

"All I heard was a really big tornado came through, and all my stuff was gone," Moore said.

Her daughter wasn't in Moore that day. She was in good hands with family. That's why despite losing her home, Moore decided to complete her duty, helping injured soldiers on the battlefield.

"You're expecting everything to happen while you're over there and then you kind of get a bomb dropped on you at home," she said.

But while she took care of her comrades overseas, her family and friends held fundraisers and chipped in on the rebuilding effort here at home.

"We're just thankful for all of the donations and the prayers from everybody in the community that helped out," Becky Rodriguez said.

Now home, she's focused on her daughter and moving forward in a new home she just bought.

"Everyone is rebuilding and everyone has a strong heart," Moore said. "That's one thing I can honestly say about Oklahoma is that they'll always be there for you."

Moore says more than anything, she is just looking forward to spending some time off with her daughter.
