Mild Nights, Warm Days.

Posted: Updated:

Another mighty nice start to our day as the low temperature map on the right, courtesy of the OK Mesonet, clearly shows. Look for another clear, cool night tonight with morning lows in the 50s once again, and much the same for Tuesday night. And, with pretty much full sun for the next few days our afternoon highs will be close to normal which translates into the lower 80s each day.

A rather strong upper level disturbance will be passing just north of us over the next 48 hours, but it is moisture starved so there is no mention of rain and even any clouds will be hard to come by. However, there will be a wind shift as the brisk S/SE winds of today will be shifting to the NW during the morning hours of Tuesday and continuing at 10-18 mph through the day. However, this will be nothing more than a wind shift as the air is quite dry on both sides of the boundary and there will be essentially no change in air mass.

That boundary will quickly become diffuse allowing for light and variable winds for much of the day Wednesday. Brisk southerly winds will return for Thu/Fri but moisture will be slow to make it back up this way. Nonetheless, warmer nights and warmer days are expected by then with morning lows moderating into the 60s and daytime highs well into the 80s under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies.

The next significant cool front is still on schedule to arrive sometime during the day Saturday. This will bring with it our next best chance for showers/storms, some perhaps as early as Friday night, but mostly likely into the day Saturday. Depending on the timing, there may be some lingering rain into early Sunday morning as well. It will also cool things off, but this does not appear to be a real drastic change as our daytime highs will still be in the 70s for the weekend.

So, stay tuned and check back for updates.
