Number of Oklahoma West Nile Virus Deaths Now Two

The Oklahoma Department of Health says the latest death was in Garfield County. The first death was in Oklahoma County earlier this month.

The number of deaths attributed to the West Nile Virus now stands at two in Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Department of Health says the latest death was in Garfield County. The first death was in Oklahoma County earlier this month.

Statewide, health officials say there have been 31 confirmed West Nile cases as of September 25.

In Tulsa County, there have been 4 cases reported.

Elsewhere in eastern Oklahoma, state health officials report confirmed West Nile cases in Cherokee, Muskogee, Pittsburg and Rogers counties.

West Nile virus is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito.
