OKLAHOMA CITY -

An Oklahoma City man is recovering in the hospital, after a bullet goes through his neighbor's wall and hits him while he's lying in bed.

It happened at the Chateau De Ville apartment complex near NW 23rd and May Ave. The people who live in the apartment where the shots were fired say they came to find their apartment ransacked, and bullet holes in the wall. As it turns out, one of those bullets hit the neighbor next door.

Police located a total of five bullets inside the apartment, four of which went through this closet wall. One of those bullets hit 58-year-old Anthony Clark in the side. He lives in the neighboring unit, and was in bed when it happened.

"It's very, very scary," said one tenant who did not want to be identified, for fear of retaliation. "I wish it were safer, I wish it were better, I wish people would stop doing drugs."

She says she's lived at the Chateau De Ville apartments on NW 22nd for six years, and is ready to move.

Police say the woman who lived in the apartment where the shots were fired was not at home at the time of the shooting. It appears someone broke in, but police don't know that for sure.

"It's unknown if someone broke into that apartment, or someone was in that apartment that she just did not know about," said Captain Dexter Nelson with the Oklahoma City Police Department.

News 9 checked and from September 1 of last year to September 21 of this year. There have been 121 police calls to this apartment complex ranging from domestic disputes, assaults to armed robbery. And police say it's not the first time they've seen someone shot from a ricochet bullet piercing a wall.

"When a gun goes off, bullets can very easily penetrate walls," said Nelson. "They're just sheet rock and 2 by 4."

At last check, Clark had been upgraded to fair condition at a local hospital. He did not want to comment about the shooting.
