Oklahoma hasn't seen a lot of rain lately, but mention the Tulsa State Fair and Mother Nature steps in.

It always seems to rain at least once during the fair, but vendors selling fair favorites like funnel cakes braved the soggy start to the festivities.

The rain has died down over the afternoon and drier weather brought the crowds out of the expo center and back onto the midway.

The rain started just after 9 a.m. and the last drizzle didn't stop until after 3 p.m.

"The people always support the fair and it is what it is," vendor Allison Brown said. "I can't change it, and I can't stress over it,"

The wet weather didn't stop Brown from selling funnel cakes.

People at the fair spent most of the day inside at the many exhibit halls.

Some people went out to grab a bite to eat at the outdoor vendors.

"It's just a little water; we don't mind," fair-goer Leslie Bennett said, "We're Oklahomans."

Bennett said the wet weather is a nice change compared to other years at the fair.

"It's cooler out here, at least I'm not sweating to death," she said.

The rain didn't turn away Katie Michaels from getting a twist to a fair favorite – pumpkin funnel cake with cream cheese frosting.

Brown said her sales will rebound despite the bad weather.

"It might slow it down a little bit, but that's OK," Brown said. "The people inside the buildings, the exhibit buildings are praying for rain."

Rollercoasters and rides at the fair also slowed down because of the rain.

When conditions dried up, the first weekend of festivities was back on schedule.

"I've been here where it's rained every day at the Tulsa [State] Fair and we just come out with a smile and we create fun."

Brown said over the summer she only lost two big days at other fairs across the country.
