OKLAHOMA CITY -

A driver nearly crashed into a deputy and then ran from the law. The suspect bailed out of the car near NW. .164th and Western. After the suspect, Brian Neena, ditched the stolen car, he began shedding his clothes.

Larry Fern said it hit a little too close to home when the fugitive walked right into his backyard.

"My wife was inside… and she saw someone through the window going through that gate," Fern said.

The Ferns were concerned because they had just received a news alert warning Brian Neena had led deputies on a chase, ditched the car, and then disappeared into their neighborhood

" There's lots of places for someone to hide back in here," Fern walked the perimeters of his home but did not find the fugitive. He did find a pair of wet pants and Neena's wallet on top of his boat.

"At that point there was a bunch of police outside the gate, so I gave them the wallet and pants," Fern said.

Fern explained that evidence led police across the creek to a home in the 16000 block of Crest Valley, just northeast of 164th and Western.

The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office and Oklahoma City Police began searching for Neena. They said he broke in through the back door of a home and was inside drinking a beer when police caught him.

The whole ordeal lasted about 30 minutes. Deputies say Neena had warrants out for his arrest out of Missouri and he now faces new charges in Oklahoma for eluding an officer, burglary, and possession of a stolen vehicle.

On the way to the Oklahoma County Jail, Neena offered some advice saying," Kids should not do drugs"

Fern says he was happy to help officers get a fugitive off of the streets.

"If that contributed in any way to capturing someone who shouldn't be here then great," Fern said.
