Four months after the May 20th tornado, families are still without power in Moore and south Oklahoma City.

OG&E says the process is a slow one because of the wide spread damage to the power infrastructure.

Homes have been re-built from the ground up since the tornado, and the only thing some families are waiting for at this point is electricity.

"Totally redone the whole inside, and the only thing we've got left, it's hard because we don't have power, is the cabinets," said contractor, James Hartman.

Contractors gutted and redesigned a 2-story, 4-bedroom home heavily damaged after the May 20th tornado.

"We can't get our customer in because we can't get power," said Hartman.

"They've put that entire two story house back together, and we still don't have power over there. It's really sad," said homeowner, Nancy Buchert.

Right across the street, Nancy is still at least a month away before she's able to move back into her home.

Her power was just restored last week.

"I don't know why it's taking so long, I really don't," said Buchert. "From May 20th to now is a considerable amount of time."

"It's a very slow tedious process because of how localized the damage is," said OG&E Spokeswoman, Kathleen O'Shea.

O'Shea says it's not just a simple fix. She says there was not only damage to wires and power poles, but the green pedestals that normally sit out in front yards.

"And then you have to test each one to make sure it's compatible to the equipment," said O'Shea.

O'Shea says even more damage was done to those pedestals during debris pick-up.

"They want to, you know, just make sure that it's ready to go, everything is working, so they can turn it back on for someone," said O'Shea.

"I'm ready to get back home, and I'm ready to have some home cooked meals," said Buchert. "I miss my home cooked food."

O'Shea says, best case scenario, power should be restored in that area early next week.
