Driver Involved In Tulsa Wreck Dies Of Injuries

Tulsa police say the driver of a silver sedan involved in a three-vehicle crash Monday afternoon is dead. The driver was identified as Joey Williams.

Williams was reportedly speeding away from a Tulsa police cruiser when his car slammed into a pickup hauling a flatbed trailer. Police say there was not an active pursuit underway when crash took place on Yale just south of Pine.

An officer turned around to pull Williams over for a possible seatbelt violation, according to Sergeant Chris Witt of the TPD, but had lost the car prior to the wreck.

A Tulsa Fire Department captain driving the pickup was treated for injuries in the crash. The driver of a third vehicle involved in the wreck was not injured.
