Owasso Burglary Suspect Told Deputies Garth Brooks Gave Her The House

OWASSO, Oklahoma -

Deputies say a woman let herself into an Owasso home for sale using a stolen key and then told them Garth Brooks gave her the home.

The Rogers County Sheriff's Office responded to a burglary alarm at the residence around 5:30 p.m. on September 21, 2013. They found a white car parked in the driveway, which they said belonged to Jennifer Pepper, 40.

The homeowner met deputies and told them he was working on the driveway around noon that day, when a woman drove up in that same car and asked to see the house. He said he left the key in the side door so she could let herself in, according to the arrest report. About an hour later, the woman came out and told the homeowner she had bought the house, deputies say.

The homeowner argued and the woman left, but then he noticed the key was missing from the side door lock.

When deputies entered the house later that afternoon, they found Pepper inside. According to the arrest report, deputies told Pepper to lie down on the floor and she refused, saying, "No, why are you doing this?"

After she was arrested, deputies say Pepper told them Garth Brooks gave her the house, but she failed to produce any paperwork or answer any more questions.

Deputies then found the "For Sale" sign in Pepper's car and the missing key on her key ring.

Pepper was charged with second degree burglary Thursday.
