There is chance for severe weather Friday afternoon into the evening.  Chief Meteorologist David Payne and the News 9 Weather team will be tracking the storms as the move across the state.

Severe Threat Level for today, 10.4.13.

This will primarily be a wind and hail event, as storms are expected to grow/evolve into a squall line (line of thunderstorms). This will lower the tornado potential, but not completely. Storms that remain discrete early this evening will have best chance of producing a brief, isolated tornado.

Tornado Outlook for today, 10.04.13.

The highest chance of a tornado will be across portions of western Oklahoma for a short period of time this evening with storms that remain discrete (supercells). IF tornadoes do develop, they are expected to be brief and weak. These would be lower-end tornadoes on the EF Scale: EF1 with winds between 86-110 mph.

Hail Outlook for today, 10.04.13.

The highest chance of large, damaging hail will be across much of western and central Oklahoma through midnight. Discrete (supercell) storms will have a higher likelihood of producing hail up to the size of golf balls, while storms that grow/evolve into line segments will have a lower probability of producing large, damaging hail.
