TULSA, Oklahoma -

Drivers who appreciate the rebuilt sections of Interstate 244 in Tulsa will be glad to know that ODOT is planning to do the same to more of the roadway.

On Monday the Oklahoma Transportation Commission approved a new 8-year plan for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. The new plan includes two projects that involve tearing out and rebuilding sections of I-244.

The two projects call for pavement rehabilitation, one from 73rd East Avenue to Allegheny, the other from Allegheny to Delaware.

The projects were originally scheduled for Fiscal Year 2017, but they've been moved up to 2014. Together they'll cost about $30 million.

The projects are scheduled to go to bid in fall of 2014, which means construction would start in either late 2014 or early 2015.

ODOT says it's too early to say how long they will take to finish.

ODOT finished rebuilding the Inner Dispersal Loop in 2011 and the rest of I-244 from Highway 11 to the I-44 split this spring.

Once it finishes these two projects, the only part of I-244 left to be rebuilt from the IDL to the I-44 split will be a 1.8-mile section from Delaware to the IDL. That's scheduled to go out for bids in Fiscal Year 2015.
