SALLISAW, Oklahoma -

A young man was killed by a train in Sallisaw Saturday night as he cross the tracks near Cherokee and Wheeler streets, according to KFSM in Fort Smith.

Witnesses say Michael Crabtree, 20, tried to run across the tracks before the train crossed and was hit.

People attending a carnival near the tracks saw what happened. Police believe it was a tragic accident.
