TULSA, Oklahoma -

Workers at Tulsa's International Airport are finding that rain and sensitive security equipment don't mix. Damage from high winds back in July has left part of TIA with a leaky roof--right over the security checkpoint.

The airport is replacing the roof, while security devices are being shielded under makeshift tents during rain.

There's more going on than just the roof leak repairs. The remodeling of Concourse A is about to start in a few weeks, which means travelers should be aware that some airlines will soon be moving to different gates.

"So it's really an even experience. No matter what airline you're flying, on you'll get the same impression of Tulsa when you're flying in and out of our airport," said airport spokesperson Alexis Higgins.

When construction starts in December, Delta will move to Concourse B, and American will move to a new location within Concourse A.

"When people come to Tulsa, this is their first impression of the city," said Boston Torrence.

Torrence has owned two shoe shine shops at the Tulsa Airport for 20 years. His booth sits right across from the busy gates at American.

"When the second phase starts, it's really going to affect me. Other than Delta going over to the B concourse, 90 percent of the traffic is going to be over there for awhile, but they'll all come back," Torrence said.

He's looking forward to a new terminal packed with travelers using new seats and amenities.

"It's only so much you can do with it. I think it's going to be good when it's all said and done. I think it's going to look nice. I think it's going to be good for the city," Torrence said.

Contractors plan to have the airport's leaky roof replaced in 30 days. The roof was under warranty and is being replaced at no charge.

The new concourse will get a new roof, as well. The airport says the renovations should be completed by summer or fall of 2015.
