TULSA, Oklahoma -

A car crashed into two midtown Tulsa homes Thursday night, causing extensive damage.

Officers say a driver turning west off of Harvard onto Florence Place from 24th Place lost control of her car and crashed into two homes at about 10:45 p.m.

Police believe Chelsea Hopkins, 24, was highly intoxicated when she lost control, hit a curb, drove across a yard, hitting the garage of one home and then slamming into the side of a house next door.

"Obviously, from the way that the car was sitting in the houses, she couldn't get out of the driver's side. The car, being as new as it is, there's only one airbag deployed--the sensor on the passenger side was not deployed, so at this time grounds to believe that she was the only [person in the car]," Cpl. Jerrod Hart.

Police believe Hopkins crawled out of her passenger side window after the crash.

The Tulsa Fire Department had to cut off electric service to one home and firefighters had to stabilize the other home before part of it collapsed.

Hopkins was booked into the Tulsa County jail on complaints of DUI, having no driver's license or proof of insurance and driving with expired tags.

Officers said no one in either home was injured. Hopkins was checked out by EMSA before she was taken to jail. She was released on bond before noon Friday.
