Some EMSA medics headed to school Monday to give some students an up-close experience in a not-so-scary situation.

Workers at the Little Light House say their students are more likely than most students to have to ride in an ambulance some day, and they want to help make that easier if that time ever comes.

"The class that's out here right now is our class that's more directed for the children with visual impairments, so the sights are more limited. But the sounds, the touches, the temperatures, all the different things that they are hearing will give them a more real idea of what an ambulance is, rather than just hearing about it if they can't see it," said the school's director of therapy services, Julie Wilson.

EMSA will be back at the school Tuesday to give more students a chance to get comfortable with being around an ambulance and the medics.
