With college basketball season just around the corner, Oklahoma has already been dealt a pair of blows on the injury front and one of them is a heartbreaker for the Sooners.

An OU spokesman confirmed with News 9 that senior starter Morgan Hook suffered a dislocated thumb and will miss the exhibition slate before being reevaluated prior to the season opener, but a substantially more significant injury was sustained by redshirt freshman Maddie Manning.

Manning, a 6-foot-2 guard from Ankeny, Iowa, suffered a torn ACL in her left knee during a team scrimmage on Friday and will miss the entire 2013-14 season. And this injury comes after Manning tore the ACL in her right knee six games into last season.

Manning was the Iowa Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior in high school and started three games for the Sooners as a true freshman in 2012.

Hook has started every game for OU for the past two seasons in the backcourt, earning All-Big 12 honorable mention honors last year.

Sherri Coale's team opens the season on Nov. 8 against Stetson in Norman as a part of the women's Preseason NIT.
