Just time for a brief update as it could get rather interesting this week.  Notice the severe weather outlook map on the right from the Storm Prediction Center which is valid from 7AM Wed to 7AM Thu.  Pretty obvious that E OK is in the center of the action as widespread showers/storms are expected during that time frame.  Right now, all indications are pointing to the actual cool front arriving sometime during the morning hours of Thursday which should bring an end to the rain in time for the trick-or-treaters that night.

However, between now and then there will be a good chance of overnight showers/storms tonight into the morning hours of Tuesday followed by a just a slight chance going through the afternoon and evening hours of Tuesday and Tuesday night.

Widespread showers/storms are likely to be developing during the day Wednesday in advance of the cool front followed by another round as the front itself pushes through the state Thursday morning.  Notice the second image on the right which is the 7 day QPF and clearly shows the potential for locally heavy rainfall before it all ends by Thursday afternoon.  That could also result in some localized flooding issues so there is not only a threat of severe weather leading up to Halloween but also the potential for some flooding.

By the way, at this time it appears the main severe weather threat would be large hail and damaging winds but we should get a better idea as the event draws closer and better data becomes available.  Unseasonably warm/humid conditions will also prevail until Halloween followed by clearing skies and a return to more seasonable temperatures.

So, stay tuned and check back for updates.
