The Better Business Bureau is warning Oklahomans about a scam concerning the federal government health care insurance exchanges.

The BBB says thieves are targeting people already on government assistance, the elderly and those who are disabled.

The BBB tells News On 6 they are fielding calls about Affordable Care Act scams every day. They say the scam starts with a phone call.

In that call, a person offers to help you get cheap health insurance. During the call, the BBB says they will offer big discounts, but ask that you update your personal info.

"Personal information, bank account information saying we need to send you a new insurance card, we're going to do discounts for you on insurance policies," said BBB's Kitt Letcher.

The Better Business Bureau you should hang up the phone and not give the caller any personal information.

Letcher says you can't always trust your phone's caller ID. He says con artists have the technology that can change the caller ID.

The Oklahoma Better Business Bureau offers more tips on its web site.
