Tulsa firefighters were called to a house fire in the 7300 block of East Easton Tuesday afternoon. Black smoke could be seen billowing for some distance from the home which is near the Admiral Twin Drive-In.

Osage SkyNews 6 video showed firefighters had to go on the defensive, backing out of the home.

"Due to high heat conditions, they evacuated the home," said Tulsa Fire Department Public Information Officer Jose Ariza.

The home was badly damaged. Firefighters estimated at least 50 percent of the home was lost. The fire was under control just before 2 p.m., according to Tulsa Fire.

Two firefighters are being treated for minor injuries, Ariza said.

Ariza said wind was a definite factor in the fire, making it much more difficult to get under control. They were able to contain it to a single structure.

None of the occupants were home when the fire started, according to Ariza. He said they returned to find the home engulfed in flames then called 911.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The American Red Cross will help the family with a place to stay, food and clothing as needed, according to Communications Director Donita Quesnel.
