All you need to know about today's and tonight's severe weather threat. Not exactly clear cut!

Showers and thunderstorms are ongoing across portions of southern and central OK. These will continue to lift north and east throughout this afternoon with new development possible. These storms will have the potential to become severe with large hail and damaging winds the primary weather hazard.

An additional round of storms may develop late this afternoon and evening across western OK, where instability will be highest. This area is not as clear cut, due to new thunderstorm development being dependent on cloud cover and weak convergence near a diffuse dryline. Nevertheless, storms that do develop across western OK will have a higher potential of severe weather owing to higher levels of instability and favorable amounts of wind shear. Again, large hail and damaging winds will be the primary weather hazards, although an isolated tornado can not be ruled out.
