OKLAHOMA CITY -

A bicyclist, who was in critical condition after being hit by a car in northwest Oklahoma City, died at the hospital Friday night.

The accident occurred in front of the 7-11 gas station near NW 46th St. and Western Avenue just after 7 p.m.

Police arriving on scene located the 56-year-old male victim and called for EMSA. The bicyclist was rushed to OU Medical Center in critical condition where he later succumbed to his injuries. 

The driver did stay at the scene. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Police have not yet released the victim's name.
