The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has released the results of its extra patrols to catch drivers under the influence of alcohol in the Tulsa metro area. The DUI crackdown started at 7 p.m. Friday, November 1, and ended at 3 a.m. Saturday, November 2.
A dozen OHP troopers patrolled what spokesperson Captain George Brown called "high collision corridors" including U.S. Highways 169 and 75, Interstate 244 and Interstate 44.
They arrested 13 people for driving under the influence and five for drug possession, according to a news release. They issued the following traffic citations:
Troopers also stopped to assist eight motorists.
"Oklahoma had 574 traffic fatalities last year. We are on track now to reduce that number by at least one percent and our Troopers are dedicated to the task," said OHP Captain George Brown.
